Gernandt & Danielsson offers skilled and driven associates exciting, developing and interesting work in an international environment with very competitive employment terms. We work closely together. And we have fun together.
Gernandt & Danielsson's work is conducted almost exclusively in groups. There are no fixed work groups; instead, each team is specially created for each individual project. The work is a team process and, therefore, strongly characterised by close cooperation between the team members. The group form makes it possible for junior lawyers to benefit in their daily work from the knowledge and experience of their senior colleagues. The actual work thus becomes a natural part of the young lawyer's continuing development.
In order to obtain a broad foundation of experience early on in their careers, our associates normally rotate between the firm's various practice groups during their early years at the firm. We strive to allow newly employed associates to work in three of the firm's practice groups during their first 24 months at the firm. Which groups a lawyer will work in is determined on the basis of the lawyer's own wishes and the needs of the firm.
Irrespective of the practice group, we offer advanced and exciting work. Much of what we do is problem-solving at a high intellectual level, placing great demands on creativity, such as drafting contract terms based upon a complex reality which express exactly what the client wishes. This all takes place in an international environment, often with foreign clients and in English.
The specific tasks assigned to a junior lawyer in the team vary of course from case to case. However, as a rule, they involve creating the basic documentation in a matter – an agreement, a court application, a memorandum, etc. which is edited later by senior colleges in close cooperation with the junior lawyer.
In large projects, for example an acquisition, the young lawyer works with a smaller portion of the project. However, we endeavour to ensure that all of the members of the team have an overview of the entire matter. The junior lawyer must know what is happening in other aspects of the project and why it is happening. This helps him or her to do a better job with his or her part of the project, but also allows him or her to take on another part of a similar future project more easily.
However, life at Gernandt & Danielsson is not only about work. Of equal importance is the social environment. We place great emphasis on creating a good work climate and good relationships between our people. This is naturally achieved fundamentally by how we act towards each other each day, with respect and empathy. But a strong contributing factor to a good environment is the opportunity for employees to interact in a relaxed environment outside the office such as, for example, at the associates' annual ski trip and at the firm's regular conferences abroad. We work closely together. And we have fun together.
We expect a great deal from our employees, but we also understand that our employees expect a great deal from us.
